The Majestic Nile: Ancient Wonders Revealed

Fly into Cairo and check in at a fancy hotel on the Giza Plateau. In the evening, a local agent will greet you to Cairo and give a trip briefing along with dinner at your hotel.

Sakkara functioned as the main burial ground during the Old Kingdom period. It is an astonishing archaeological venue where the legendary and acclaimed architect Imhotep designed and constructed the oldest Pyramid in Egypt. The first stone structure is 4800 years old and was built with the solid steps technique, which means that it was made with huge solid steps on top of each other (The Step Pyramid at Saqqara is aptly named). Inside the Step Pyramid complex, you will witness the evolution of the royal tomb structure. Your guide will take you into the tomb of one of the nobles (the tomb of Kagmini) to depict the murals of everyday life in ancient Egypt. Additionally, you can visit the Pyramid of Teti, where the oldest form of pyramid text on the walls of the chamber can be seen (4340 years old). The following stop will be at Dahshour, an archaeological site located only five miles from Sakkara. In this unspoiled location, three pyramids are found, namely the Bent Pyramid and the North or Red Pyramid. Both of them are the work of the fourth-dynasty founder, Pharaoh Snefru. The other Pyramid, however, belongs to his queen, Hotep Heres. In this area, you will view the Bent Pyramid which was the first attempt to make a Step Pyramid. This Pyramid is very impressive with its two-tiered structure and excellent soft casing layer. Go round this Pyramid and see the tiny Pyramid of the queen. Then proceed to the North or Red Pyramid. This one is the very first pyramid that is correctly built and complete in ancient Egypt. You will get to know the evolution of the royal tombs in the Old Kingdom. It is an above-the-ground experience to enter the chamber of this pyramid as you have to crawl through a narrow tunnel to the chamber. Finally, when your tour is over, you will be driven back to your hotel.

Don’t miss an amazing chance to see the splendor of the Great Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx. You will be getting a privileged treatment during your tour of these world-renowned representatives of Egypt's ancient civilization. The Great Pyramids and the Sphinx, which are in the Giza Plateau area, have over 4600 years of history. Although there are more than 100 pyramids in Egypt, the Giza Pyramids are not only the most famous ones but also the last of the ancient Seven Wonders of the World. A well-informed Egyptologist guide will enlighten you with a captivating introduction to the three pyramids: Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerinus. You will be allowed to go into one of the pyramids (at extra cost) and spend some time there, but your guide will not accompany you. After the pyramids, you will be going on a plateau ride to take pictures of the three iconic pyramids standing tall from the sands, the Cairo skyline behind them. A quick drive over to the city side of the plateau will have you standing at the Sphinx, the cryptic emblem of Egypt. The Sphinx, with the lion's body and the king's head, is steeped in mystery and even more so by the questions that remain unanswered: how and why was it built?

Having had breakfast, you will then take a flight to Luxor, the ancient city called Thebes. This magnificent city was the capital of Egypt during the Middle Kingdom and the New Kingdom at different times and was the main god's Amun's city, one of the most important gods of the Egyptian religion. Visit the Karnak Temple Complex, which is the largest religious site in the world, where you will see the famous obelisks, temples, and many more things dedicated to Amun and other gods. Afterward, spend your afternoon with a visit to the Luxor Museum. Later, during the evening, admire the impressive Luxor Temple. The huge columns and gigantic statues of this temple complex are very attractive at night when the stunning lighting produces a mystical, dreamy atmosphere.

Today, be sure to visit the Valley of the Kings, which has earned a reputation as the burial site for the most powerful rulers in Egypt's New Kingdom. The Pharaohs went for the risky burial in the ground—instead of using the more straightforward pyramids crowned with a pointed structure of the Old Kingdom. Take a trip down to the tomb of Tutankhamun, which was found in 1922 by the British archeologist Howard Carter and observe the remains of the young king. Witness the clear and bright wall paintings as well as the hieroglyphics in the tomb of Seti I, which is just next door. Conclude your stay in Luxor with a trip to the Colossi of Memnon, which are two enormous alabaster statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III, each standing 60 ft tall and having watched over the royal necropolis since 1350 B.C. This night, embark on your cruise with our Egypt Nile Cruise, as you sail down the river.

This morning sail to the West Bank of Luxor and get off the boat to visit the Ramesseum Temple, Ramses II's funeral temple. The temple, along with the granite remains of the king's unbelievably huge monuments, is really impressive. Visit the Valley of the Queens and see the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut in the less touristy and quieter place. The temple is beautifully set against the Theban Mountains. Come back to your boat for lunch, and then go through Esna Lock to get to the city of Edfu.

Our morning will start with a visit to Edfu, where the amazing temple will be shown to us by our cruise ship. The Edfu Temple was built in the Ptolemaic period between 240 and 57 BC and is the most intact ancient temple in Egypt that is devoted to the falcon god Horus. Aft er returning from the temple visit, we will cruise to Kom Ombo, which is our next destination for late arrival. See the Kom Ombo Temple of the Ptolemaic period, built during the reign of King Ptolemy V (around 205 to 180 BC). The Ptolemies dedicated the Temple of Kom Ombo to the two gods; Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus, the falcon god. We will come back to our ship, after exploring the site, to have dinner and then continue sailing south to Aswan

Leave the Nile cruise and take a look at the three most popular sites in Awan. Stroll across the High Dam, which holds back the most beautiful part of the Nile, Lake Nasser, be amazed by the huge Unfinished Obelisk and have a nice view of Philae Temple on the island. Get the early morning pickup from your hotel or cruise ship in Aswan, and go straight to the High Dam of Aswan, which is a huge engineering feat done in the '60s. The dam contains more material than that used in the Great Pyramid of Cheops, and it is carved into the existing granite, giving irrigation and electricity to the whole of Egypt. From the top of the High Dam, look over to Kalabsha Temple across Lake Nasser. Next, visit the Unfinished Obelisk located in the granite quarries of Aswan, from where a lot of the red granite used for ancient temples and colossi was taken. The Unfinished Obelisk is still in the same place where it was in the process of being carved when a crack that was discovered led to it being left in the rock. With the help of your knowledgeable Egyptologist guide, you will be able to hear how the 1-tonne obelisk was carved and why the crack that caused it to be abandoned was the last straw. The last of the three famous Aswan sites you are visiting today is generally considered the best. Philae Temple was carefully relocated to its current location (around 500 meters from the original site) when the construction of the High Dam caused the surrounding Nile waters to rise. A mini cruise on a motorboat takes you to the island, where your guide will lead you on a mai tour through the temple and then let you have free time to go on your own and explore even more. The Philae Temple, which is dedicated to the goddess Isis, has a very nice location on an island in the river that is surrounded by land that has been made like the original site. The different shrines and sanctuaries there are to gods and goddesses involved in the story of Isis and Osiris. This evening you embark on a felucca traditional wooden sailboat of the

This morning, you will take a flight to Abu Simbel, located in the southern part of Egypt, where your local guide will be waiting to meet you. The next activity of the day will be a visit to the magnificent ancient site of Abu Simbel, which is regarded as one of the greatest achievements of Ramses II. The entrance to the main temple is adorned with four statues of the pharaoh, each nearly 70 feet tall and carved out of a striking sandstone cliff. The inner chamber is delightfully illuminated during the Abu Simbel Sun Festival, which takes place two times a year in February and October, as the sun rays fall directly and this way the seated statues of Ramses and two sun gods become visible. Just like the Temple at Philae, the temples of Abu Simbel were also dismantled and rebuilt at a higher elevation to avoid being submerged under the water of the Aswan High Dam, an astounding engineering task that rivaled the original construction of the temples at Abu Simbel. After having lunch, you will board a flight back to Cairo and stay relaxed at your hotel.

This day tour includes visiting the Alabaster Mosque at the Citadel of Salah el-Din; the mosque that takes pride of place highest among the city’s other mosques, being the most significant one in Cairo. The lower portion of the mosque is finished with alabaster both externally and internally. The upper part is created from the limestone cladding that had been taken off from the Giza Pyramids. Thereby, at the mosque, your guide will give you a quick tour around the Islamic fundamentals and even bring along a translation of the most common prayers. Afterward, you will be taken into the heart of Coptic Christians' faith, ancient sites and culture and history of Christian life in Egypt. The Hanging Church or one of the oldest Christian churches in Egypt--is dedicated to Virgin Mary and perhaps the most delightful church in Cairo, will be the first attraction of your trip. It was built into the Roman fortress's gatehouse walls--the Hanging Church or one of the oldest Christian churches in Egypt--is dedicated to Virgin Mary and perhaps the most delightful church in Cairo. Your next destination is the Abu Serga church, where the holy family stayed during their flight from King Herod to Israel. This tiny church, which dates back to the 10th century, was the most important pilgrimage place in the Old Cairo for visiting Christian tourists at the beginning of the century. The central courtyard is flanked by twenty-four marble columns, while the apostles are depicted in a series of 12th-century icons. The tour then takes you to the Ben Ezra Synagogue, which is one of Egypt's oldest synagogues. Surrounded by a garden with trees, it was built in the place of a 4th-century Christian church. In the end, you will visit Khan el Khalili Bazaar, where your guide will take you to the famous bazaar, which is rumored to have inspired Christopher Columbus for the discovery of New World. Here you will have free time to wander around the streets and shops which resemble a maze. Test your skills in haggling with the shopkeepers for a souvenir.

Thank you Egypt Promotion Tours!

I was really excited about going to Egypt, but I had concerns that the company might not be legitimate or that the trip wouldn’t include everything promised after making an upfront payment. To my surprise, my expectations were exceeded beyond anything I could have imagined. Cairo was a truly unique experience, and our guide made our visit to the pyramids the absolute highlight of the day. We did the Dahabiya Iris for 4 days, and we were blown away by the outstanding service from Ahmed Fouad, Ehab, and the ship’s incredible chef. I never expected such personalized and exceptional service, something that even larger cruise lines don’t provide. Highly recommended! It was a spectacular and one-of-a-kind experience. Starting from the prompt and helpful responses to every question by phone, to being picked up at the airport with a sign bearing your name, and not having to worry about a single thing until the very last day when you’re dropped off back at the airport. Egypt was the best vacation of our lives! Thank you Egypt Promotion Tours!
