The Bab Mansour Gate is the most iconic monument of Meknes and one of the most beautiful gates of Morocco. The early 18th century saw the construction of the gate under the reign of Sultan Moulay Ismail, and it was used as the main one for the imperial city. The name of the architect, El Mansour, is behind the gate which is an example of the Islamic architecture with huge size, green zellij tilework, marble columns, and Quranic inscriptions.
