The kasbahs of Skoura, which are in the Skoura Oasis that is around Ouarzazate, are the most recognizable and the best preserved ones of Moroccan fortified architecture. These kasbahs, made of red clay and decorated with geometric patterns, were not only the residences of the rich but also the fortifications against the desert's harshness. Skoura's kasbahs indeed offer a look at the bygone era of Moroccan life and culture and at the same time, present an easy access to the Sahara Desert. The travelers can roam around the architecture, take a walk through the palm groves, and enjoy the landscape that surrounds the kasbahs turning it into a necessary spot for every southern Morocco itinerary.
