The Dead Sea, one of the saltiest water bodies on the planet, is situated at the Earth's lowest point (approximately 430 meters below sea level). Visitors can easily float due to the high salt concentration, and the mud and minerals are great for healing and skin treatment.
To the east, the Dead Sea is bordered by Jordan, while to the west, by Israel and Palestine. The Jordanian part is a tourist magnet with upscale spa resorts, and beaches, plus wellness centers all of which are a one-hour car ride from Amman.
The period from March to May (spring) and September to November (autumn) is the best time to visit the Dead Sea since the weather is warm and pleasant. The summer can be very hot, but the winter is mild and still inviting for outdoor activities.
The swimming of the Dead Sea is allowed; just make sure to lay on your back and don’t splash or dive. The high concentration of salt can be a cause of skin and eye irritation if not dealt with cautiously.
