The 15 Days Rwenzori Adventure Trek and Safari offer a perfect combination of mountain adventure and African wildlife exploration across Uganda’s most spectacular landscapes. The trip starts from Entebbe airport, then you will pass over the Equator to Kasese, which is where the elegant Rwenzori Mountains - the legendary "Mountains of the Moon" - are located.
Ascend to Margherita Peak (5,109 m), Africa's third-highest peak, through thick forests, bamboo zones, and alpine meadows. After that, go back through picturesque valleys and head to the savannahs for some wildlife experiences in the Queen Elizabeth National Park, where the famous Kazinga Channel and tree-climbing lions are found.
Next, Rwenzori to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest lets the travellers have an extraordinary gorilla tracking experience followed by a peaceful walking safari in Lake Mburo National Park where zebras and antelopes live unrestrained.

Journey Duration: Under 40 Minutes As soon as you land at Entebbe International Airport, our guide will meet you cordially, help you with your bags, and take you to your hotel in Entebbe. After that, you can check-in and take it easy; the idea is to relax and get ready for the adventure that is coming up. Travel Time: Roughly 7 Hours Collection Time: 07:00AM. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the hotel first before departing for Kasese, stopping to take stunning pictures at the Equator and having lunch at the Igongo Cultural Center in Mbarara. Proceed with the trip to Kasese where you will check-in to your lodge to have a refreshing before dinner and relax for the next Rwenzori Mountain trek. First, have a hearty breakfast followed by transfer to the Trekkers’ Hostel in Kyanjuki, Kilembe Mines close to Kasese. The trek starts between 09:00 AM and 11:00 AM, covering a distance of 2.2 km to the UWA ranger post at an altitude of 1,727 meters, which takes about one hour. Set off on your adventure to the campsite that is located at the valley floor, through the massive Afro-Montane forests, and reach Sine Camp (2,596m) for sleeping next to the beautiful Enoch Falls. If you dare take the step trail to Kalama Camp (3,134m) and the Mutinda Lookout (3,975m), you will be rewarded with awe-inspiring sweeping views from above. Notes Overnight: Mountain Camping

After a hearty breakfast, set off at 8:30AM for a great adventure trek through the Bamboo-Mimulopsis Zone which comprises steep climbs and high steps surrounded by lush and tall vegetation. You will trek past Kamalama Camp (3,147m) through the Heather-Rapanea Zone all the way to Mutinda Camp by crossing streams, ridges, and moss-covered waterfalls. In the afternoon, there is an optional ascent to Mutinda Lookout (3,925m) where you will be rewarded with the most breathtaking panoramic views of the Rwenzori Mountains, Kasese town, and Lake George. The route turns into a swamp, mainly during the rainy period, but if you are careful with your steps, you can hop from one tussock to another, thus making your climb more fun. Cross the boardwalks above the marshes and hike through the tussock grass, the enormous lobelias, and the colorful flowers of the Mutinda Valley. The trail goes up steeply to the Namusangi Valley (3,840m) with views of waterfalls and Mutinda Peaks before you get to the Bugata Camp (4,062m) on top of the Bamwanjara Pass. These stunning panoramas include Bugata Lake, Lake Kopello, Weismann’s Peak, Lake Africa, and Lake Tanganyika all surrounded by rough alpine beauty. Notes Stay the Night: Mountain Camping

Start an exhilarating adventure by trekking to Hunwick's Camp through Bamwanjara Pass. Leaving Bugata Camp, firstly walk up a ridge then go down a bit and finally get to Bamwanjara Pass (4,450 m), where a little cabin provides protection in case of bad weather. Walk through valleys, skirt around swamps, and go through thick and moist forests of evergreens, groundsel, and enormous giant lobelias. Go up the steep parts to Hunwick’s Camp, where you will be rewarded with the stunning views of Mount Stanley, Mount Baker, Weismann’s Peak, and McConnell’s Prong. Notes Overnight: Mountain Camping

After spending the night at Hunwick’s Camp, you will begin your journey by descending and walking through the valley until you arrive at the magnificent Lake Kitandara, a sight famous for its deep waters and luxurious, colorful plant life. After enjoying the Lake Kitandara view, conquer the steep Scott Elliott’s Pass and then walk along the ridge up to Margherita Camp (4,485 m). Margherita Camp is a site with huge rocks that provide shelter from the freezing winds and is a historical place since it was the camping site of Prince of Abruzzi during his famous 1906 expedition to Margherita Peak which added adventure and thrill to your already epic climbing trip with a bit of mountaineering heritage. Be up at 02:00AM for an early meal before making the thrilling ascent of Mount Stanley at 02:30AM. It is a must to start early, as the mountain is generally covered in thick clouds later in the day, thus making the summit hard to reach. Climbers are required to follow a strict safety rule of turning back by 10:00AM. After the conquest of Margherita Peak (5,109 m), go directly down to Hunwick's Camp (3,874 m) to take a break after this unforgettable high-altitude adventure. Notes Overnight: Mountain Camping

After your night at Hunwick’s Camp,make your way up to McConnell’s Prong which will give you the magnificent view of the three Rwenzori peaks and Scott Elliott’s Pass. From here you will go on past Oliver’s Pass (4,505m) and walk underneath Weismann’s Peak where you will enjoy amazing views of Margherita, Stanley, Speke, and Baker if the sky is clear. After that, the path goes down the valley of the Nyamwamba River, passing through spectacular landscapes and finally arriving at Kiharo Camp for the overnight stay. Notes Overnight: Mountain Camping

Today marks the beginning of your descent from Kiharo Camp to the park exit, which is a very pleasant and rewarding hike of 5 to 8 hours. The trail goes gently downhill along the beautiful Nyamwamba Valley, thus providing stunning views at every corner. The hike will take you to the rocks covered with moss, the waterfalls that are falling down, and the forests that are green, clean and the most astonishing ones in Rwenzori Mountains. Have your last lunch at the lovely Riverside Rock Shelter. You will be at Trekker’s Hostel when your driver-guide will come to pick you up and take you to your lodge, where you can check in and spend the rest of the evening relaxing at your leisure or thinking about the unforgettable beauty of your journey with a tiring but very nice memory. Planned Activities: Bwindi Gorilla Tracking Experience – Go deep into the heart of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for an unforgettable encounter with the mountain gorillas that are under extinction threat. Together with an experienced ranger and skilled trackers, you will walk through the dense misty trails, hear the jungle around you, and feel the anticipation growing with every step. Once the gorillas are located, you will be granted 1 to 2 hours of pure magic for watching and taking pictures of these kings of the jungle in their natural habitat. This is not just a trek; it is an intimate adventure that happens once in a lifetime into one of the most extraordinary ecosystems of the world. During the hike, your guide will find a peaceful place for a picnic lunch before you either proceed to the lodge or go back (depending on the situation). Night Activity: Lake Mburo Walking Safari – Start a thrilling night walking safari of about three hours with the help of a skilled ranger. Walk from Rwonyo to the saltlicks, where various grazers like zebras, impalas, and others gather to lick the mineral-rich and moist clay. Amidst the park's wildlife, get the thrill and amaze as you slowly and quietly walk through the park, enjoying the very close view of the animals around you in the golden light of the setting sun and with the wild sounds of Lake Mburo’s untamed landscapes as your companions.
