8-Day Rwanda Wildlife Safari

Journey Time: Less than 30 Minutes. Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, your safari guide will meet you after you clear immigration and customs. Enjoy a hassle-free transfer to your hotel in Kigali for check-in after the short welcome briefing. The rest of the day is at your disposal, letting you cool off after the flight and get yourself ready for the upcoming adventure.

Pick-up Time: 08:30AM. After an early breakfast, begin your 8-day Rwanda Wildlife Safari, a guided tour of Kigali City, which provides the most authentic and thorough introduction to our capital. Visit key sites—Kigali Genocide Memorial, Museum Kandt House, and Mount Kigali for fascinating views—and a local market for experiencing life as it is in Rwanda day by day. Afterward, depart from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park, where lunch will be served on arrival at the lodge (subject to change). The afternoon will be leisure time to enjoy the scenic environment before dinner and overnight.

Pick-up Time: 05:00AM. After breakfast with a lunch pack and mineral water, depart to the park headquarters. A briefing by ranger guides then follows this impressive tour of the Gorillas in the Mist. Namely, trek and search for the rare mountain gorillas through montane forests and in the Virunga Mountains; once they are located, enjoy an enchanting hour. Take as many pictures as possible, then get downhill and have your lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a tour of the Iby'Iwacu tourist village for traditional Rwandan culture, music, and way of life. Return to the lodge later in the day for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Journey Time: About 2–5 Hours—Depending on lodge location Pick-up Time: 06:00AM. Following an early breakfast, continue your 8-Day Rwanda Adventure Tour with a transfer to Kinigi Park Office for a briefing before starting the hike to Dian Fossey's tomb. This trek graces beautiful forest trails along the slopes of Mount Bisoke, thus sharing Dian Fossey's life and conservation legacy and incorporating scenic views of the park. Upon return for lunch, drive down to the lake shores of Lake Kivu, where you will spend the night.

After breakfast, start your day with a visit to the warm Gisenyi Hot Springs, where you can relax and chat with the local communities. Later, enjoy a scenic boat cruise on Lake Kivu to Napoleon Island, which is renowned for huge fruit bat colonies and diverse birdlife such as the stunning African fish eagle. After lunch, the activity of mountain biking has to follow in the nearby lands and villages, which are even more charming at sunset. Return for a hotel dinner and overnight.

Duration: Around 5–6 hours. Time of pick-up: 06:00AM. After breakfast, depart for Akagera National Park. After checking into your lodge, enjoy lunch at the hour of your arrival. In the afternoon, take a scenic ride around Lake Ihema, the large body of water soaked with hippopotami and home to East Africa's biggest population of the same, presenting a thrilling array of mammals. Birders will enjoy watching for such water-bound species as the papyrus gonolek, the African jacana, herons, sandpipers, and kingfishers. The day will come to an end with dinner and an overnight camp at the lodge.

After the nice safari, everybody wishes to return to Kigali to check in at the hotel and enjoy the evening of leisure time, completing an unforgettable day of Rwanda Safari Tours.
