Journey Time: Approx. 03 Hours Pick-up Time: 08:30 AM. After an early breakfast at the hotel, you will head directly to the Volcanoes National Park through a short tour of Kigali city. This trip is the proper way to experience Rwanda’s capital known for its beautiful hills; among the attractions can be mentioned the Kigali Genocide Memorial, Kandt House Museum, Mount Kigali, and one local market. The lodge will be your accommodation for the night after the late lunch provided (subject to change). No more activities will be organized for the day. Pickup Time: 05:00AM. After an early breakfast, the lodge will transfer you to the park for a briefing before the day’s main hike. A packed lunch will be prepared by the lodge. Planned Activity: Mount Bisoke Climb – Arrive at the park at 06:30AM for the briefing and guide assignment. The guided hike starts right after that. Mount Bisoke, ascending to 3,711 meters above sea level, is one of the most accessible and picturesque volcanoes in the region, which makes it a very rewarding trekking experience. The Virunga volcanic chain includes Bisoke, which is an active volcano with its last eruption date back in 1957. The hike traverses the well-known Bisoke trail that opens up to the breathtaking crater lake at the peak. Generally, the trek takes about six hours in total, conditioned on the climbers' speed. The hikers might be lucky to see wildlife like buffalo, elephants, monkeys, and many bird species during the hike. Besides, the trail goes past the grave of famous Dian Fossey, and at times mountain gorillas can be seen nearby. It is advisable to come equipped with hiking boots, long trousers, insect repellent, a raincoat, hat, long-sleeved shirt, drinking water, and a walking stick. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge. The lodge will provide you with breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The morning and early afternoon are your leisure times—a perfect opportunity to unwind and get ready for your gorilla trek. The lodge has various amenities that you can use at your convenience. Later in the day, head to the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village and get ready to see the local way of life and learn about the Rwandan cultural heritage. You can go back to the lodge after the cultural visit to take a shower and then have dinner at the time you want. Journey Time: Roughly between 3 to 5 hours – Depending on the lodge’s location Pick-up Time: 5:00 AM. An early breakfast will be followed by a lunchbox and mineral water which would be given to you to carry along in your backpack. Then, you will be transported to the park for a briefing. Volcanoes Gorilla Tracking Experience – After park formalities, begin your once-in-a-lifetime trek turning into the park to see the endangered mountain gorillas. Finding the gorilla family will grant you a full hour for close observation and photography. A light mountain forest hike on the slopes of the Virunga Volcanoes tracking the gorillas is a very captivating experience indeed. While these colossal primates are usually concealed in dense tropical forest, you will find yourself a few meters away from the gorilla group met. For this trek, wear hiking boots, long trousers, a facemask, gloves, and bring insect repellent and a water bottle. In case the trek turns out to be longer than indicated, your ranger guide will choose a safe place for a picnic lunch during or after the hike. After the gorilla trek, call it a day and proceed to Lake Kivu. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the hotel upon arrival. Journey Time: Approx. 03 Hours Pickup Time: 07:00AM. Start your day with a hearty breakfast followed by the guided tour of Lake Kivu. After the morning prone activities, move to Nyungwe National Park. Lunch will be provided at a local restaurant on the way. Planned activities: The day will start with a guided mountain bike tour-an excellent chance to experience the region's dramatic terrain, see the breathtaking landscapes, and interact with the local community, all surrounded by the tranquil views of sunrise. Then, a two-hour boat cruise on Lake Kivu to Napoleon Island will be yours. You will see a huge colony of fruit bats and different bird species including the African fish eagle during the trip. Fishing villages will also be in sight from the boat ride along the lake's edge. Lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to Nyungwe National Park was arranged for you. Pickup time: 05:00AM. Start your day with an early breakfast at the lodge and then go for a guided chimpanzee trekking experience in Nyungwe Forest. Depending on the day’s schedule, lunch will either be served at the lodge or arranged as a picnic within the forest. Planned Activities: Nyungwe Chimpanzee Trek – A pre-trek briefing at 05:30Hrs at Uwinka, Gisakura, or Kitabi will be your introduction to the primate trekking experience. Activity duration can last up to 6 hours depending on the chimpanzee group's location. You will have the chance to see and take photographs of the chimps for one hour only after they are found. Explore their day-to-day activities like grooming, mating, playing, etc. Afternoon activity: Nyungwe Canopy Walk – Come to Uwinka Visitor Centre to launch your guided 2-hour nature hike, where the possibility of seeing butterflies, wild orchids, and many species of forest birds is opened up for you. The path goes to the famous canopy walkway, which is 70 meters above the ground, and the rainforest is seen in all its glory from that height. Guests may also catch glimpses of animals like colobus monkeys, L'Hoest's monkeys, and red-tailed monkeys as well as a range of birds. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
