12-Day Morocco Grand Tour

You arrive in Casablanca. Your personal driver is waiting for you outside the customs and drives you up the Atlantic coast to Rabat, the elegant capital of Morocco. Check in at the hotel and spend the evening at your own pace; maybe walk by the Oudaya Kasbah while the sun goes down over the Bou Regreg River.
Stay overnight in Rabat.

After having breakfast, jump into the history of Rabat with your guide, and visit the ancient Chellah necropolis and the beautiful Oudaya Kasbah with its sea view. Before departing from the city, enjoy mint tea and pastries at the scenic Café Maure by the riverside, our gift! In the afternoon, travel north along the coast to Tangier, the place where Europe encounters Africa, and experience the lively atmosphere of this famous port city at night.

Wake up in Tangier, the “bride of the north.” Today, a local guide reveals Tangier’s multicultural charms, from the bustling Grand Socco market and historic Kasbah Museum to the unique American Legation, home to the famous “Moroccan Mona Lisa” painting. Savor some street food or a coffee overlooking the Strait of Gibraltar, then head into the Rif Mountains. Arrive in Chefchaouen by late afternoon to wander its tranquil, blue-washed lanes tucked amid the hills (nicknamed the “Blue Pearl” for their distinctive hue).

Start the day leisurely in the stunning blue medina of Chefchaouen. Afterward, take a scenic drive through the Rif and Middle Atlas ranges to Fez. Along the way, discover ancient history in Volubilis, the grand arches, and vivid mosaics of a UNESCO Roman city. Enjoy the expertise of a guide. Proceed to the imperial city of Meknes to see the magnificent Bab El Mansour gate and royal stables, and then reach Fez by night.

Step back in time on a guided walking tour of Fez el-Bali, the world’s largest living medieval medina. With your expert guide, weave through labyrinthine alleys to see aromatic spice markets, the famed tanneries, and the stunning Bou Inania Madrasa. Roll up your sleeves for a hands-on pottery workshop (you’ll get to keep your handmade tagine lid!) before enjoying a traditional couscous lunch overlooking Al-Qaraouine, the oldest operating university in the world. The afternoon is yours to explore or relax at your hotel.

Departing from Fez after breakfast, you will start your trip to the Sahara Desert in Morocco. Ride through pleasant cedar woods next to Ifrane (a town in the mountains like Switzerland) and have lunch in Midelt. In the afternoon, go down Ziz Valley to Erfoud, where the 4x4 cars will be ready to take you on a ride through the giant sand dunes to the desert camp in Merzouga. You can slide down the dune while the sun is setting and then have a starry sky feast at your Berber camp.

Experience a wonderful Sahara sunrise, and maybe even come to it from a camel's back! After the morning meal in the tent camp, exit the desert by retracing your footsteps through Erfoud. Drive through the breathtaking Todra Gorge, where the vertical walls of red rock rise up above the green palm oasis. Go on to the 'Road of 1,000 Kasbahs,' making a stop at Skoura Oasis to enjoy the peacefulness of its date palm groves. By night, Ouarzazate, the door to the High Atlas, will be your next destination, and you will be waiting for a kasbah-style hotel.

This morning, go to Atlas Film Studios in Ouarzazate and dive right into Hollywood epic scenes; here, movies like Gladiator and series like Game of Thrones were shot. By late afternoon, you will be in the colorful city of Marrakech.
